Tiziano (h. 1490-1576) tuvo ocasión de retra-
tar a un Carlos V ecuestre en 1548, tras la
victoria en la batalla de Mühlberg. De la mis-
ma época sería este de la Alte Pinakothek de
Múnich, que por sus concesiones al gusto ger-
mánico ha provocado dudas sobre su autoría.
El emperador aparece sentado sobre un paisa-
je a su izquierda. Apreciamos el rostro cansa-
do del veterano monarca, melancólico, pero
majestuoso todavía, como en el retrato ecues-
tre, lo que confiere cierta humanidad.

Titian (c. 1490-1576) had the opportunity
to portray an equestrian Charles V in 1548,
after the victory in the Battle of Mühlberg. To
the same time would this painting of the Alte
Pinakothek in Munich belong to, which, due
to its concessions to Germanic taste, some
have questioned its authorship. The emperor
appears seated with a landscape on his
left. We appreciate the tired face of the old,
melancholic but yet majestic monarch, as in
the aforementioned equestrian portrait, giving
the protagonist a certain humanity.
